Using a Dictation Machine

!±8± Using a Dictation Machine

Turning an audio piece into written or typed words can be a lengthy process. There are many rules that individuals have to follow to ensure that the audio that they are transcribing is accurate. For this reason, it is important to have a reliable method of retrieving audio information and converting it to a written form. Dictation machines have been used for years to help people just this. These machines allow the user to have a tremendous amount of control over the transcription process in order to ensure that the audio is interpreted correctly.

Using a dictation machine takes some getting use to, but once familiarity in gained the benefits of this machine are quite obvious. The use of this machine requires the coordination of the hands, feet and ears and this coordination will take time if you are a beginner to using a dictation machine. To begin using a dictation machine you should make sure that you have all components necessary to successfully operate the dictation machine. You will need a set of headphones so that you can listen to the audio closely. You will also need a foot pedal. Make sure that your foot pedal is properly set up so that it works in conjunction with the rest of the machine. Finally, you will need the cassette tape that contains the audio that should be transcribed.

The operation of the machine can vary depending on your level of expertise. In general, the goal is to operate the machine with use of the foot pedal so that the hands are free to type that audio from the cassette tape. You should familiarize yourself with the foot pedal controls to understand which movements will control which aspect of the machine. The pedal will allow you to either go forward or rewind the tape. On some foot pedals there is even a button that allows the user to adjust the speed of the audio which can be very convenient.

To begin transcribing make sure that the cassette is in the deck of the dictation machine. Place your headphones on and adjust the volume so that you will be able to hear the audio clearly. Position the foot pedal beneath you so that it is easy to reach. Press the play button on the machine and the audio will begin. Once the audio starts you should begin typing or writing what you hear. If at any point you need to rewind or fast forward the audio then you can use the foot pedal to do so. After many times working with the machine, the operation of the machine will become simpler.

Using a machine for dictation has many benefits. It allows a person to take a piece of audio and make a transcript that can be used as a reference. The process of transcription requires gaining familiarity with the equipment used. Once this familiarity is gained most people find that the machines offer a lot of control in accurately processing audio data. These machines are so reliable and efficient that they are readily used by within different professions to convert audio data into a typed format.

Popular Executive Holiday Gifts - 5 of the Most Popular Ideas Right Now

!±8± Popular Executive Holiday Gifts - 5 of the Most Popular Ideas Right Now

Finding the perfect executive holiday gift for important business associates, clients and employees is easier than ever. Since the options are limitless, here is a list of five of the most popular executive gift ideas for the 2010 holiday season.

A night out at a local comedy club - This is the kind of business holiday gift that can provide some serious stress relief for a cornered exec. Giving the gift of free tickets to a local comedy club is a sure bet (most people are itching to leave the house after hanging out with the visiting in-laws). Bring their spirits back up with the gift of laughter. You'll be thanked in more ways than one.

Techies will love you - While a bamboo USB flash drive is not a totally unique corporate gift the information you load on it has the potential to make a statement. You can provide links to funny holiday-themed home videos featured on YouTube, sales and marketing presentations from industry gurus or family vacation photos (of course, you'll need to go the extra mile by contacting your recipient's secretary and convincing her to email you the photos). Digital photo frames, iPhone dock clock radios, cool pen scanners and the all-important Bluetooth accessories are also popular business gift ideas for gadget connoisseurs this holiday season.

Mouthwatering executive gift baskets - Personalized corporate gift baskets are a staple during the holidays. Put a holiday-themed message on the wrapping showing your appreciation for your client's continued support. From chocolate-dipped strawberries to chocolate covered nuts and pretzels to wine gift baskets any quality selection will have your clients picking up the phone to personally thank you.

Support a local charity or important cause - Does a key business associate support a local charity or does this person work hard to eliminate a life-threatening disease? If so, find out where their emotional sweet spot is outside of work and make a donation in their name. Not only is this a very thoughtful business gift idea, you are extending your support for an important mission. Send a card thanking them for their support during the past year and elegantly mention the donation made in their name.

Tickets to the big game - When most people think about getting an important client or employee a business holiday gift they usually consider getting them an inanimate object of some sort. Instead of spending money on a corporate promotional gift such as a designer watch or desk clock try giving the gift of sports. You can recognize a golfer with the gift of free green fees or balls with his company logo on it. You can put someone in box seats or in the front row of a major sporting event. Say this person is a fan of a team in a small market and only knows the result of a contest via highlights. Get him or her access to a seasonal TV package so they can follow their team with pride.

Help your customers market themselves: Instead of sending a luxury executive gift like a desk clock to a particular client consider putting your customer's logo on a unique promotional product. The quantity does not have to be a large run, but handsome enough for an impact to be felt. Or you could buy a large quantity of a particular promo item and change the logo according to each company. Make sure the promo item you choose aligns with their brand. Depending on your budget for executive holiday gifts, you may elect to go with luxury promo items instead of a mass produced, run-of-the-mill item. The intent here is to thank your customers by helping them advertise, rather than giving them a gift that may collect dust on a shelf.

Sheet-Fed Scanner- What Are They And How Do They Work?

!±8± Sheet-Fed Scanner- What Are They And How Do They Work?

A sheet-fed scanners typically include a base which allows the document that is to be scanned to be fed into the scanning position along a horizontal path or an inclined path. The scanner includes a housing, a sheet-feeder, a scanning module, a actuator and a calibration sheet. Although the sheet-fed scanners have the advantage of having a smaller size, the drawbacks will offset this advantage.

Scanner

Small Sheet-fed scanners are available for as little as 0. Sheet-fed scanners are ideal for the business cards, handwritten notes, letters, and Photographs. Sheet-fed scanner allows scanning, faxing, and copying. There are many ways in which the documents can be feed into the scanner, By resting the sheet-fed scanner on its sides of the main body you can feed the document from different positions: when resting on the base plate it allows a horizontal feed-in and feed-out of the document; when on the first inclined side the inclined is in such a way that it allows a top feed-in and bottom feed-out; and when resting on the second inclined side, that allows an inclined bottom feed-in and top feed-out. Most inexpensive sheet-fed scanners are designed for black-and-white work, although newer models can handle color. You can find sheet-fed scanners that plug into your computer's port. Disadvantages of sheet-fed scanners are that they generally can't produce the image quality that flatbeds. Mainly because they're trying to hit a moving target: a sheet of paper traveling over rollers. Unfortunately, not every document will feed through a sheet-fed scanner, and each sheet has to be fed one at a time. Feeding page after page into sheet-fed scanners can become quite tedious.
